[ they do seem to get it. it's very touching of them to-- ask, if there's anything that's helped, if they might be able to ease it a little implied in their words, and she thinks of dear hugo, who's intending to come by in the evening to see about exhibiting rafayel's gifted works; she thinks of sweet ereshkigal, who'd come to sit with her, new book in hand. ]

But... so does physical company.
I'd really like to stretch my legs a little after laying around all day, so will you accompany me for a short walk?
I got winded pretty easily when I returned from the woods and I'd like to see if I've improved. You can just pilot me if I end up passing out!

[There's a moment's hesitation.

A short walk. Which means... going outside. Out into the city itself after what they'd done in the fog. And Malkuith didn't mind, which helps a lot but then there's the... other thing that have been bothering them.

The way they feel uncomfortable in their own skin. The way their clothes fall even stranger on them than they did before. The fact they can't even manage to put their gloves on anymore.

...But...

Is that really worse than what Malkuth's going through right now? And it's not like they have any right to complain, considering how many people have gone through worse transformations than they have.

...They need to suck it up. They aren't going to leave her out to dry like that.]

Sure thing. Hopefully there'll be no piloting necessary, but I'll make sure to get you back home safely.

[ she'll drop them an address, and unlike her other visitors she'll be waiting outside her front door for them to arrive. her pronged horns are back to their full height, if a little... woodier, in texture, and malkuth herself is bundled tight with a scarf around her neck.

it isn't for warmth. it's for protection. but that's only something that she's thinking about idly, thoughtless in her dress, a remnant of the paranoia that lingers about carnivora unattached to her presence.

her ears twist, catching the sounds around her, and her hooves clop against the cobblestone ground. it's so unnerving being out right now. even if it's all past, even if shelter is right behind her, there's still a poison in her mind that's causing her soul distress. as if she were newly arrived and not over half a year into it now; easing the soul had come with time and trust, and it feels like she has to build it up all over again. she knows she doesn't. takasugi being able to drop by not so long ago was proof of that. being able to touch her the way he had, claws that could kill so close to her neck, without inciting so much as a prideful lash back-- or maybe that is because of their friendship, their trust, and out here she's...

dante's more seen than heard in arrival, given their light nature, and there's an expression of genuine relief that quickly composes back into something more friendly and... well, composed as she waves. ]

I promise I won't take too much of your time, just around the block and back again.

[Dante, on the other hand, looks... normal. Completely normal--as far as Cityfolk go, anyway. The clock head is still there, ticking away, but they look healthier than they have in awhile otherwise, without even their tail to be seen. If it wasn't for the fact that they still insist on hovering above ground, one might think they might even have found a way to go back to being human.]

< Don't worry about it. We can go as long as you want, Malkuth. Gives me more time to practice keeping my glamour going. >

[They glance up and--]

[It's been a little while since they've seen them, but... Did her horns always look like that?]

[ practice for them too, huh... that's good. she can accept that. ]

They feel a little different, but I don't know if that's just because they're still new [ nevermind that they grew the same as they had before until recently ] or a side-effect of going outside the barrier... It doesn't bother me either way though.

[ it won't until they start sprouting leaves, but. that's later in the month. presently, she's offering her arm. ]

You don't miss walking like a normal person? Though I guess if I could hover on the reg, I would too.

[Maybe that's it. One of those things where it's at an awkward stage and needs time to get back to how it used to look. ~~it's not, but...~~]

[ well. and because she doesn't want them taking the spotlight off her sweet baby boys who can do some wrong. malkuth shakes one of her legs a little as she walks, trying to get it to unstiffen. ]

I wish it'd warm up already, though... As much as it reminds me of The City, I'd love to feel the sun again sometime. And to stop smelling rain before it hits the ground.

It must be nice, enjoying the feeling instead of wanting to crawl out of your own skin once the smallest ray shines down on you.

They push that thought away before it can go any further. Malkuth's a friend. There's no reason to start getting jealous of her for having a different soul than them right now. Especially since it seems they already have a leg up on her in terms of movement right now. In a way.]

It's kind of embarrassing, thinking back on it. They'd been so... clingy at the time. At least Malkuth isn't holding it against them.]

how nice, for them. though the only person she has to blame is herself-- so it isn't fair to hold that against them, neither dante nor the mysterious other, when it sounds like it isn't all sunshine and roses anyway. uncertainty is its own issue. malkuth can't stop her ears from pressing back though. ]

What a mess that all was, huh...? And then Kelesis right after. You'd think we'd have some kind of break from being helpful -- though I guess it depends on someone's point of view for the second, since I sure wasn't helping Patho-Gen any.

[They catch just a hint of her ears pressing back, and they wonder for a moment if they said something to upset her.

Thankfully not. Everyone I fought was holding back... even when I told them not to, since it was easier to figure out who needed a good knock out.

I was pretty susceptible though, because of my time with them back in October. I don't foresee that changing any either. [ malkuth's always going to be a danger to the people she loves.

... maybe she should prepare them for that. ] Thankfully, they haven't been able to delve into my EGOs when I'm still aware of my surroundings, but I don't know how long that'll last.

[The only reason the Sinners could get away with it is because Dante was there to bring everyone back to life, and even then they were more hesitant about that sort of thing than they were back in the early days (of course, they didn't care as much about eachother back in the early days either).

But if that wasn't an option... They wonder what the others would do.]

... I've thought about what the consequences might be, ranging from my personal experience to the effects of emotional blowout here, and I think-- it might cross over. And frankly, I don't think there would be many who could stop it depending on the level of the Abnormality tapped into.

[ a ZAYN, TETH -- those can probably be dealt with without too many casualties. HE would be worse, but managable. a WAW or ALEPH... patho-gen might have to get involved. ]

Both rely heavily on emotional and mental stability. If we could figure out how to settle those remotely, without it coming to blows, then maybe we can keep each other in check.

< Our department has regular consultation sessions to keep track of the likelihood something like that'll happen--among the other usual reviews--but I don't know how likely it is that other people will buy in. There's even less of a chance if Patho-Gen is offering. >

Tell me anyway. You've got two others who can run tests too, Dante, and I'm at least a willing subject... once I'm more stable myself, of course.

< Well... With Gregor, I was thinking I could try and "Overclock" his EGO by pushing it to the allowable limits. He'd still have some control then, but there's obviously still a risk involved. >

< The other option would be to try and let the Corrosion happen over time? But obviously that's risky too, since if it goes for too long there's no coming back. Or you'll have to kill the person using it. >

Yesod and I have some experience in handling out of control individuals without murder, but I do admit that the circumstances were... different enough that it probably wouldn't end the way it did then. We can always try and end the experiment before that point.

[Given their former place of work, Dante can't say they're surprised. It seems like the number of ways an Abnormality can mess with someone's head are limitless. ~~what's a Realization~~]

< That might be for the best. We're all familiar enough with it at this point to be able to recognize the signs before they happen, so as long as we're careful and everyone's on the same page we should be in the clear. >
