Crime: I'd like to go with a rap sheet rather than a single crime, as Dante's past hasn't come to light in Limbus just yet, so this would be a better reflection of their time with the company and their horrible dystopia. With the exception of theft and trespassing (which are just part of the job), these crimes are either something horrible Dante has gotten used to or a part of a trauma Dante has never really taken time to process or talk to anyone about.
Theft, Trespassing - The LCB's main job is the retrieval of Golden Boughs. As a result, they've had missions to sneak into old L Corp facilities to facilitate said retrieval.
Murder, Accessory to Murder, Human Sacrifice - It's hard to go through the City without killing someone. Dante commands the Sinners in battle, which frequently ends in the death of those they're fighting against. While some actions can be considered self-defense, many are not. As for human sacrifice, all members of the LCB are culpable, as the bus they work from, Mephistopheles, requires live humans to be tossed into the bus to be used as fuel.
Heresy - In the eyes of Nagel und Hammer's inquisitors, all those who use prosthetics are heretics that must be purged.
Theft of Trade Secrets - Dante's journey has given them insight into how the Singularities of some of the Wings of the City work. In other words, they know more than they should about the technology these corporations use, and if any of them caught wind of that knowledge, Dante would be in BIG trouble.
Erasure of %#*(@&@*! $@)%@&(& - The Erasure of Catherine Earnshaw. Though it was by her request, Dante has erased the existence of one woman across all possible universes to the point where only Dante and one other person remember her--an act they acknowledge as a terrible thing. If possible, I would like for Catherine's name to be unreadable to anyone but Dante and (if apped) Heathcliff from their canon.
Background: Wiki - Specifically a link to all chapters. They have not yet gone through Canto IX: The Unsevering
CR AU: Without the Sinners at their side and no company to tell them what mission to take on next, Dante was forced to chart their own path forward. Though not always successful, being given the chance to try something new (as well as a voice to communicate with others with) helped expand their world and grant them a bit more confidence in their ability to navigate the world on their own.
But that isn't to say they're completely sure of themself now. Dante's sense of self is still incredibly shaky and heavily tied to their job as Executive Manager, and they have a tendency to grow codependent with those they grow close with (or in this case, have fallen in love with).
Personality: Dante is an absolute mess of a human being who has gotten very good at hiding that fact. They try their best to project the image of a person others can come to with their problems--someone positive, who knows what they're doing, will be there for you no matter what, and has nothing going on with them that anyone needs to concern themselves about.
And to be fair, it isn't entirely an act. Dante is a little more pessimistic than they let on and can occasionally slip into defeatist thinking, but they do their best to see the good and beauty in the world and hope that even if things are bad now, maybe they'll be better sometime in the future. They're rarely 100% sure of what they're doing and whether or not they're making the right decisions, but when they make a decision they commit to it and make adjustments if things don't turn out like they hoped. And they really will be there for you no matter what, so long as you hold a desire to change and walk the path you need. Even if you think murder is art. Even if you've committed 10,000 war crimes.
But...
Much of the bonds that Dante forms with others are an attempt to fill the hole their lack of memories have left. It's not a bad thing, necessarily, but it leads to a certain level of codependence with those they grow close to. They worry that others will leave them, even as they know that someday they'll have to part ways with that person, and they'll frequently sweep away or ignore problems they know are building in order to keep the peace, even if they personally dislike the way things are. They seem consistently surprised to hear they have a positive effect on anyone, or even that they're doing something correctly.
Their mind is abuzz with a thousand thoughts they rarely ever voice. Dante is observant, but occasionally misses the mark on what they should be focused on, whether that's who the best person for a job would be vs. who volunteered or being so focused on how similar two people are that they misinterpret an important signal from that person as an intent to leave the company.
It should be noted that Dante has a rather complicated relationship with their head and the things it can do. On the one hand, it (or the Golden Bough inside it) is capable of some truly miraculous powers that have saved the lives of themselves and the Sinners on multiple occasions. On the other, those powers come with the price of suffering the pain of death over and over again, being unable to communicate with others, and generally being an "other" in society. They are frequently dehumanized and objectified by others back home, and even by themselves. This is frequently evident in their dry sense of humor, which occasionally dips into something morbid and/or self-deprecating.
Abilities:
Turning the Clock
Dante is able to "rewind" all death and injury to the Sinners of Limbus Company at the cost of feeling any and all pain involved. A painless death brings no pain when they turn the clock, whereas if all 12 were to drown because one Sinner decided to try and pet the glowy death whale, Dante would feel the sensation of drowning 12 times simultaneously.
It takes time to turn the clock, and Dante is vulnerable during this time. The Sinners don't need to be dead for the clock to turn for them. Apparently Dante isn't actually reversing time when they do this, but the exact mechanisms of this ability are unknown as of current content. For the purposes of RP, Dante will need to turn the clock for a Sinner within 15 minutes of their death before it counts as a death in-game (so people can play with the death mechanics if they want)
Connection to the Psyche
The Golden Bough allows for Dante to peer into the minds and thoughts of others, witnessing and/or projecting the memories of others nearby. They can also facilitate the appearance of an entrance to the Fathoms of the Ego (essentially a dungeon based around a person's mental state and/or memories). OOCly, this power will ONLY be used with the permission of the other person.
On a similar note, Dante can sense entities/abilities fueled by emotion/the human subconscious (extrapolated from their ability to sense Abnormalities, Peccatula, and Distortions, and how they can differentiate them from Bloodfiends and humans.) This will also only be used with permission from another player.
Immunity to Memory Alteration
In a bit of beautifully cruel irony, now that they have their clock head, Dante appears to be immune to memory alteration--or at the very least attempts to alter their memory haven't stuck. Aldrip/the setting of Expiation will be considered an exception to this power as outlined in the rules.
Durante
A set of abilities Dante has unlocked as the story has progressed. Those they have currently unlocked are as follows:
Pigritia slows time in an area around Dante, leaving only them and the Sinners unaffected. This doesn't appear to be something that can be used indefinitely, as another character states that it was only used for around 30 minutes in-story.
Superbia allows someone to strike with or clash with a greater force than they might otherwise have (or at least that's how I'm interpreting this ability given how it's used at the end of Canto VII).
Morositas brings all parties to the same level of power in order to fight on even ground. There may be some variations (one person being a little stronger, the other being a little faster, etc) but it does not effect someone's experience, ability to think and plan, and other factors beyond power. It also only lasts for a short period of time. For an in-game story example, Morositas was used to bring the Sinners on par with Lei Heng. They were able to hold out for awhile, but eventually Morositas's effects began to wane and because Lei Heng had more experience and treated the battle like a marathon rather than a race, he was able to get the upper hand in the end.
In order to fit with the limited nature of Durante abilities in-game, I'm going to say that these take a about a day to be used again in RP, and Dante will only be able to use two simultaneously.
Non-Magical Skills/Abilities
Perhaps one of Dante's most concerning "skills" is their incredible pain tolerance. Having to go through the pain of death on a regular bases, sometimes twelve times simultaneously has made it so that they can have their shoulder impaled on a harpoon or crushed by a foe and manage to keep giving orders and navigate their way through a mission with a clear head. It still hurts like hell for them, but considering Dante perfectly normal from the neck down (as far as we know), the fact that it isn't completely debilitating for them is a marvel.
On the other hand, Dante's most valuable non-magical skill is their aptitude as a tactician/commander. They are very good at spotting weaknesses and strengths on the field as well as adapting to counter whatever strategies the enemy is using. However, as they're used to commanding a small force that they can revive from death, their plans tend to trend toward the more risky side.
